Prototipo Studio and the textile industry: yarns, fabrics – providing also paper and more
Prototipo Studio operates mainly in the textile industry. Prototipo Studio presents a collection of fabrics made with hemp only and with hemp and other natural fibers – cotton, linen, silk, alpaca.
Prototipo Studio also presents a clothing collection of items from the sartorial tradition: the blouse and the Sarner Jacket, shirt and vest, always using natural fabrics only in a limited production. Prototipo Studio also provides Hemp Paper, Hempcrete – and every output from the Hemp Supply chain.
Prototipo Studio: Hemp Craft Provoking – craftsmanship and the sustainable challenge
With operational headquarters in Milan, Prototipo Studio operates throughout Italy working with a network that extends from north to south. “Hemp Craft Provoking” is a claim – because hemp should provoke Italian manufacturing on the sustainable challenge.
The goal is to explore the intersection of craftsmanship, production and creative design. Prototipo Studio is committed to using a short, local Italian supply chain. It aims to use natural, circular, chemical additive-free and energy-efficient solutions at every stage of production.
Italian Hemp Processing: the “Made and Sourced in Italy” asset
Prototipo Studio aims to draw attention to the issue of Made in Italy, which has lost its original value over time. Prototipo is investing in the Italian hemp processing stages of scutching and steeping to obtain a strong thread. Prototipo Studio aims to offer a higher quality of what today is received as “Made in Italy”, presenting a “Made and Sourced in Italy” asset.

Prototipo Studio presents a hemp clothing collection – from the Sarner type jacket to knitwear
Prototipo Studio presents a collection of a few limited-edition pieces of clothing collection – polo-type shirts, blouses, Sarner-type jackets, bomber jackets, and perforated vests, to which is added a small production of knitwear.
Hemp textile collection with natural colors only for fabrics: ochre from straw, mud green from licorice, anthracite from charcoal
Prototipo Studio has chosen three different colors for a textile collection. The first color is the natural shade of uncolored hemp, which is similar to the color of agricultural fields and wet straw, and has an ochre hue. The second colored fabric is a mud green shade, made using pigments from licorice processing in Calabria. The third and final color is anthracite, which is a dark gray that tends towards black. This color is obtained using vegetable charcoal, or biochar, which can be produced through the pyrolysis of wet food waste from both rural and urban areas.
Hemp at Prototipo Studio: the many positive properties: C02 storage, no waste, thermoregulation with micro air chambers
Hemp is a sustainable textile material produced in Italy. It is the only raw material that cannot be challenged on any production sustainability parameter. Hemp can store more CO2 than one hectare of forest and has various uses. Every part of the plant is potentially useful, with a full no waste approach. Hemp is an improving crop that grows in spring and summer, needing minimal fertilizer and water. Hemp fibers present micro air chambers that produce thermoregulation. Washing hemp fabric in water can improve its feel and renew its scent.
