It is a period of reflection and relates to aesthetics, taking place before considering the restraints of production. Intw George Allen
My mother was the first who inspired me to become a fashion designer. When I was young I used to play with the clothes in her wardrobe and would never miss the opportunity to go shopping for clothes with her. I used to go missing in the clothing stores and she would find me hiding inside the fabric rails. I soon realised from a young age that fashion is a way to grab attention and make change.
My collections starting process is through music, and how this has always been a form of escapism for me. I combined this with the in-depth photography research I was currently studying by Tom Wood and Bruce Gilden, which looked at isolated day to day portraits of women, especially mothers who appeared to look like they wanted to escape. I wanted my clothings to reflect this escaping reality connection to the models through silhouettes away from the body and distorted prints.
