There is a real shift in the way people consume, demanding products that are purpose driven and sustain human, animal and environmental wellbeing.
I was born in Paris, and I now live in California – in a magical canyon called Topanga – between Los Angeles and Malibu. There are two things that give me energy in LA. First its incredible nature, beaches, parks and mountains, they reconnect you with what is essential. Second its open-mindedness, inclusivity, enthusiastic attitude, green perspective and its “think different” mindset, here you are encouraged to explore, dream, discover, and create. I studied in Paris, for a BA in Economic Science and in California to become a certified health and wellness coach. Odacité was born out of reinventing my life after having breast cancer. Cancer was a major wake-up call, and came with a scary prognostic. I knew that in order to heal I would have to reinvent everything to remove all toxic ingredients from my life, starting with the products I was applying on my skin. As most French women, I take skincare very serious! I became very frustrated because I could not find any products that were natural and high performing at the same time. I started to think of a way to marry the efficacy of French skincare with the green California lifestyle, what I call the best of two worlds! It is through this French-California fusion that Odacité was born in 2009, pioneering the green beauty movement, with a line of products that are as pure as they are effective, without forgetting the pleasure of the senses. The name Odacité is a French play on the word Audacity. The first letter is “O” because we use organic ingredients and it is the symbol of our planet… audacity for the audacity to start a new conversation about beauty, one that says ““When it comes to skincare you don’t need to sacrifice performance for purity of ingredients.” We are a young fast-growing and self-funded company which translates into “the CEO does a bit of everything” with an amazing team to implement our vision. It can go from creating new products, design, marketing, sales, social media, finance, logistics, PR etc.. and a lot of travel to introduce the line in new countries.
Right now what inspires me most is the sustainability movement, it is such a great hope for the planet and all its leaving creatures. There is a real shift in the way people consume, demanding products that are purpose driven and sustain human, animal and environmental wellbeing. Beauty is turning from gray to green, the food industry is going plant based, fashion is moving toward more sustainable fabrics and manufacturing, businesses are created or reinvented to meet the needs of these new consumers, with a commitment to more sustainable practices. For me what completely changed my approach of life is having breast cancer and healing against the odds. It has made me a lot more resilient, a great problem solver and a believer that with the right attitude we can overcome the biggest obstacles. I now know that we have this extraordinary force inside of us, we are much stronger than we think we are.
