Bvlgari announces the scheduled opening of the Bvlgari Hotel Roma for 2022, located in the Campo Marzio neighborhood in Piazza Augusto Imperatore
The Italian luxury house Bvlgari has announced the inauguration of the Bvlgari Hotel Roma, scheduled to open in 2022. Located in the Campo Marzio neighborhood in Piazza Augusto Imperatore, the Hotel will occupy a rationalist building erected in the 1930s and constructed by architect Vittoro Ballio Morpurgo. Bvlgari CEO Jean-Christophe Babin states that the opening of the Hotel would usher «a new generation of five-star hotels». Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts, founded in 2001, is the only Italian luxury hotel collection with worldwide destinations.
With the opening of the Bvlgari Hotel Roma in 2022, the Italian luxury house adjoins a tenth destination to the Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts universe. Along with Milano, London, Dubai, Shanghai, Beijing, Bali, Paris, Tokyo, and Moscow, the ancestral home of Bvlgari, Rome has been a long-considered location. «The Hotel will be surrounded by history, with its Baroque churches, palazzi dating back to the Thirties, and the modern architecture of the Ara Pacis. It summarizes 2,000 years of Roman architecture. To me, the Hotel standing in front of Augusto is an honor», says Babin.
The Bvlgari Hotel Roma will occupy a rationalist building built between 1936 and 1938, set close to Via del Corso, Via Condotti, and the Spanish Steps. «We saw so many beautiful locations, but from Day One, I was aiming at this square, the most extraordinary place in Rome, where the first Roman emperor was buried — it has a symbolic value», says Jean-Christophe Babin in the announcement video.
Italian architectural firm Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel is responsible for the restorations inside and out of the building, as for the previous Bvlgari hotels in the world. Inspired by the imperial splendor of its setting, the design of the Hotel blends past and present, expressing the Houses Roman Heritage in the design details.
The interior balances the rigor of the stones utilized in imperial Rome; the textures are contrasting with the architectural essentiality of the building, yet maintaining its heritage. The 280.000 square foot building, counting over 100 rooms, incorporates features like a Reading Room, containing a collection of volumes dedicated to the history of jewellery, a restaurant curated by Michelin-starred chef Niko Romito, Il Ristorante and a Bvlgari Bar, which will be located on the top floor, offering the Hotel guests views of the Eternal City. The guests will furthermore find a spa and state-of-the-art gym.
«This hotel represents an achievement for Bvlgari that will have its own ‘temple’ in the city where the company was founded, and that still represents the beating heart of the brand nowadays. It will be Roma’s most luxurious hospitality experience,», underlines Babin.
On the occasion of the announcement of the Bvlgari Hotel Roma project, the Italian luxury House created a jewellery piece, The Bvlgari Ospitalità Italiana Necklace, reflecting Bvlgari’s innovativeness and expertise. The white gold choker is embellished with ten different stones, equivalenting with the Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts collection.
