Le Roch in the Saint-Honoré neighborhood, between the Louvre and Opéra Garnier
Sarah Poniatowski-Lavoine once mentioned she was inspired by the visual of a sidewalk seen in Game of Thrones, and decided to extend that idea to the design of Le Roch Hotel & Spa
Le Roch Hotel, in the core of Paris
Situated between the Louvre and Opéra Garnier, and a walk down from the Tuileries Gardens, Le Roch Hotel & Spa is based in the core of Paris.
Le Roch Hotel & Spa is positioned between the Jeu de Paume, the Louvre and the Comédie Française and Rue Saint-Honoré. Although located in the core of Paris, the hotel is away from the hustle and bustle of the Saint-Honoré neighborhood. The street is lined with design shops, hairdressers, printers, cafes and restaurants. A walk to the end of the road brings one to the Tuileries gardens.
The decorator: Studio Maison Sarah Poniatowski-Lavoine
The relationship between Studio Maison Sarah Lavoine and Le Roch Hotel & Spa is not one that has sprung out of the blue. The two share a connection that was born six years ago when the hotel was inaugurated.
Having a passion for understanding color, Ms Sarah Poniatowski-Lavoine’s lends her palette to curate spaces that bring life to light reflecting off material. Ms Lavoine introduces shades that contradict and hence complement one another, for example, Sarah blue against a brick red. An interior designer who is known for her expertise with color, she does not shy away from the risk of contrast. Her first family home, her office and her first store were set up in the area of Saint-Honoré, and so it is fitting to say that she knows the neighborhood better than most.
The decor: Le Roch Paris
Between the surprises of the Bozzolo armchair, the lava tables and the Slavic lighting fixtures, the restaurant decor will submerge one into a Seventies atmosphere. Blue chairs and tabletops, flooring made from wood, carpets, benches, marble: all notes that spell the Sarah Lavoine House. Having a love for pop culture, Ms Lavoine once mentioned she was inspired by the visual of a sidewalk seen in Game of Thrones, and decided to extend that idea to the design of Le Roch Hotel & Spa.
In an effort to introduce details that one would want to come home to after a long journey, Ms Lavoine has blended her vision with hospitality in a way that sets the tone from the entrance. With living spaces and sofas to plunge into, there’s also a bar area in the courtyard, which has stairs taking one up to the first-floor terrace area.
Giving the feeling of a home away from home, the hotel also boasts design one would want to introduce into their spaces – Ms Lavoine’s idea of poetry in tangibility.

Le Roch, Paris: Rooms and suites
The bedroom headboards, created to match the art-deco surroundings, are made from a two-tone fabric designed by Ms Lavoine. Limited-edition lithographs and a palette of mustards and blues pervade the 37 rooms (32 rooms and five suites) that tell stories of character and soul. Rugs also designed by Ms Lavoine and created by Chevalier Éditions, walnut parquet flooring and velvet curtains decorate the bedrooms. The suites contain private steam rooms.
Windows that let in lots of lighting, interior-reflective panelling and lightbulbs that are not in the face, bathrooms equipped with Italian hardware and products from French brand Codage: these are all elements implemented in the rooms of Le Roch Hotel & Spa. The Deluxe Indulgence category of rooms has hammams attached and are offered in different color palettes, depending on one’s preference.
The wellness zone: Maison Codage
On a note to gift-wrap the present in its entirety, Le Roch Hotel & Spa offers wellness including a gym, pool, steam room, spa Maison Codage and library. On request, guests may use the advice of a sports coach to help with the Technogym equipment available in the fitness area.
The pool throngs with sunshine and the spa Maison Codage adapts to one’s skin type offering products according to what benefits. There’s a main hammam alongside the swimming pool too. The pool is reserved only for guests – one can swim below a waterfall and also have access to the steam room. Sprinkles of black mosaic, charcoal-grey flooring made from lava stone. The spa Maison Codage offers a Kaldewei bath and sink as well as furniture from Cassina and GamFratesi.
There’s also a library filled with various genres and categories of books, a fireplace and sofas to sink into.
Le Roch: Nutrition with nuances
Since its redesign by Ms Lavoine, the restaurant gleams in the sunlight and beige tapestries as the environment stands apart from the blacks and blues of the other zones of the hotel. Daylight springs upon the area that encompasses the restaurant and bar due to the veranda that is linked to the garden space. The bar area has brass lamps, a signature mark of decorator Ms Lavoine. Presenting a cocktail menu accompanied by a variety of food, the bar is flanked by the restaurant. Having a concentricity in layout, a marble buffet and navy-blue benches line the eating area.
The Le Roch kitchen can plate up a small plate to a three-course meal. Chef Serge Jouanin from Auvergne leaves it up to the guest’s mood to dictate. Sea bream sashimi with flower petals and lamb with assorted types of carrots, stone bass and honey-roasted red kuri squash, a mash of red kuri squash, and vegetables grated over fish and sprinkled with hazelnuts. The theme of the terrace the year will be ‘the vegetable garden’.
