Rid Burman for Lampoon, the Ruvido Issue – Capitalist brainwashing
Highlight the beauty of being able to embrace who you are – shedding the layers that we all tend to put up in order to try and blend in and be somebody, but often forgetting or losing our own selves in the process. One of the subjects, Radhika, is an artist. She told me that she chooses to embrace the nature of her body like any other organism, like a creature blending with the rawness of nature – a beyond human experience.
Today everything we see is trying to become homogenized. All the uniqueness that we see between different bodies, skintones, and hair is under the threat of disappearing because of certain beauty standards that capitalism is slowly brainwashing us to follow. The people documented here are silent warriors to this trend, who are beautiful inside and out – without trying to be.
