Set against the rough concrete structures of the city of Paris, the story explores the relationship between color, silhouette and movement. An air of melancholia felt after a long winter contrasts with rich tones and opulent shapes, captured in the first rays of sun on a crisp day in early spring. Inspired by the polarity of darkness and light, the coexistence of joy and sadness, it is about embracing the duality of human existence and the act of creating as a means to overcome hardship.
Johanna and Laura met in 2018 in Vienna, as they were both finding and exploring their visual languages. They started collaborating on different editorial projects, taking some of their early steps into their respective creative paths together. After moving to different cities, each honing their skills, they’ve now reunited in Paris to create together once again.
Laura Schaeffer
Born in the mid nineties in southern Germany, is a photographer based in Europe. Her work oscillates between several disciplines within lens-based media, always maintaining a degree of surrealism, boldness and a distinct dream-like quality.
Johanna Bouvier
Born in Tyrol, Austria, is a stylist based in Paris. After starting out working in Vienna for a while, she decided to move to Paris, where she assisted for a couple of years. This eventually led her to rededicate herself to her own vision and work with a refined eye and delicate sensibility for silhouettes and textures.
