I Thought It Was Love, But It Was Just a Barbecue

I Thought It Was Love, But It Was Just a Barbecue is a publication by Lorenzo “SerraGlia” Servi based on the Wrapped Wonders series. The book examines covered objects found in urban environments, documenting forms generated by protective materials, temporary concealment, and functional wrapping. These objects are presented as visual data, detached from their original function and reinterpreted through photographic observation.

The publication includes 63 images in color and black and white, organized as a sequence of case studies. Each image isolates a condition in which recognition is suspended: objects are partially or fully obscured, producing ambiguity in identification. The work addresses perception as a variable process influenced by prior knowledge, projection, and contextual reading.

Textual fragments accompany the visual material, introducing parallels between misinterpretation in visual perception and interpretative mechanisms in human relationships. The book constructs a system in which ambiguity is not resolved but maintained as an operative condition. The project does not define objects by function but by their visible state at the moment of observation.
