Augustinus Bader – cellular renewal research and proprietary TFC8 technology

Trigger Factor Complex: forty amino acids, peptides, vitamins and synthetic molecules naturally occurring in the skin, Professor Bader’s research and the studies on skin burns

Augustinus Bader: on the commitment to support the renewal properties of skin

Augustinus Bader’s beauty brand launched in 2018, under Professor Bader’s experience within skin treatments and as Head of stem cell research at the University of Leipzig. He spent thirty years focusing on perfecting the healing process by discovering how to awaken skin cells, which remain dormant over time due to aging.

Professor Bader’s mission began with the intention of helping people who have suffered severe skin burns, particularly children with traumatic injuries. In 2008, he formulated a wound gel that heals up to third-degree burns without surgery or skin grafts. The formula works by delivering a series of healing signals to the wound or burn site, activating damaged skin cells and facilitating regenerative healing.

When biomedicine becomes skincare. The study of cellular renewal: stem cells

Early Augustinus Bader’s testers and investors came first of all from the Hollywoodian scene, as the Professor and the company’s co-founder and financier Charles Rosier started to build up and share the storytelling of their products to journalists and others.

Augustinus Bader’s face care line showcases the advancement in skincare that creates the right environment for cellular renewal. Indeed, it is not the fillers that make skin slow down aging but rather the ability to trigger one’s own skin to fix itself. In order to stand out in the crowd of luxury skincare brands, the knowledge of stem cell technologies and how stem cells help the body to fix itself are key players.

Stem cell technology is a currently developing field that relates to the study and application of treatments based on the regenerative properties of stem cells. These serve as a repair system for the body, and can be divided into embryonic and adult.

The peculiarity of these cells is that they can divide and renew themselves many times; they are unspecialized, so they cannot fulfill specific functions in the body. However, this characteristic gives the stem the capability to develop into many different types of cells in the body. This gives them the potential to become specialized cells, such as muscle, blood, and brain cells.

Stem cells are found in embryos and adult body tissues such as the brain, bone marrow, blood, skeletal muscles, skin and liver. It was discovered that they can also regenerate damaged tissue under the right conditions.

Augustinus Bader’s collection of skin products

Moisturizers, cleansers, and exfoliators are the company’s spearheads. The Cream Cleansing Gel is supposed to donate skin a deep yet gentle cleanse to preserve the complexion’s moisture barrier and calm irritated skin. On the other hand, the Cleansing Balm has a thicker consistency that clears pores of dead skin cells and environmental impurities. To follow, The Essence cleanser hydrates, tones, and exfoliates, all in one.

Among the moisturizers, The Light Cream is suited for oily skin types, whether The Cream for both oily and combination skins. The Rich Cream – the brand’s first product launched in 2018 – acts best on normal and dry or sensitive skins.

Augustinus Bader Face Oil provides a nourishing and refreshing action to stressed skins, which could be integrated with  the special Serum  that encourages smoother, firmer skin. Not to mention, the company has recently presented their newest revitalizing Eye Patches in hydrogel: «The skin around the eyes is thin, so it is more vulnerable to damage and prone to expression lines, wrinkles, and dark circles. The Eye Patches is a hydrogel mask that uses proprietary TFC8® technology to treat this area, counteracting skin problems by brightening, smoothing and regenerating the eye area» comments Professor Bader.

In April 2023 Augustinus Bader launched its first serum

After five years from the start of the activity, Professor Bader has moved scientific innovation to the beauty industry, and in doing so he has embraced the philosophy of leading a clean and vegan revolution. The Serum is an example of it: a fast-absorbing concentrated treatment designed to combat everyday skin problems such as dehydration, stress, signs of aging, loss of elasticity and environmental damage.

The Serum is made up of retinol, a type of retinoid, which derives from vitamin A. Retinoids can play a role in immunity and skin health, which is why they are often used in skincare products such as serums.

Retinoids increase skin cell production and help unclog pores. Retinol also exfoliates skin and increases collagen production, which can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

The Serum packaging features a sustainable asset. It is a refillable bottle that combines airless technology to maximize the potency of the formula, with a refill system that allows the elements to be separated for recycling. On a lighter note, aesthetics does not pass in the background for Augustinus Bader. The Serum comes in a metal, copper colored container which resembles a test tube, and it is inserted in a bigger electric blue vase, which arouses a contrast of colors to the eyes.

The patented TFC8® (Trigger Factor Complex) technology

Key to the transformative properties of Augustinus Bader Skincare is TFC8®, Professor Bader’s proprietary trigger factor complex.

TFC8® (Trigger Factor Complex) is composed of forty amino acids, peptides, vitamins and synthetic molecules naturally occurring in the skin. A complex created to boost cellular energy and trigger the skin aging repair process.

A technology-rooted approach for Augustinus Bader skincare products

Instead of industry trends, the company privileges a more technology-rooted approach, where research and biomedical solutions drive the philosophy of the brand. Topicals are not the future of skincare, but rather science-informed formulas.

Clinical trials are run on all of their products, ensuring the exactitude of their formulas in delivering results and solutions to skin issues and general health.

Augustinus Bader and the skinification of hair trend

The ‘skinification’ of hair is a consolidated, recent approach to haircare that consists of treating hair with the same care as face, with formulas that use high quality skincare-grade ingredients – the typology usually reserved for skincare products.

Bader’s line has expanded to apply their TFC8® technology to haircare in order to optimize hair micro-environment and nurture cellular renewal and natural hair growth. A result made possible by thirty years of research, innovation, and clinical study, resulting in the production of shampoo, conditioner, hair oil and treatments.  «By translating our award-winning technology for skin rejuvenation and cellular renewal to the scalp and hair follicles, we have created an unprecedented science-backed system that reawakens the body’s intrinsic ability to regrow hair and supports renewal from root to tip.» asserts Professor Bader.
