Silent Springs is a documentary photobook by Italian photographers Michele Borzoni and Rocco Rorandelli, published by Loose Joints in July 2026. The book traces youth climate activism across Europe through non-violent direct action, collective organisation and the public rituals of resistance.

YOUTH CLIMATE ACTIVISM ACROSS EUROPE

Silent Springs follows young climate activists as they organise across borders in response to ecological collapse, institutional delay and increasing state repression. The book documents movements including Extinction Rebellion, Ende Gelände, Code Rouge, Last Generation and Soulèvements de la Terre.

Through photographs of road blockades, campus occupations, coal mine actions and temporary camps, the project records the discipline, choreography and material infrastructure of climate justice movements.

Michele Borzoni and Rocco Rorandelli work within a documentary tradition shaped by investigation, restraint and long-term observation. In Silent Springs, their photographic language avoids spectacle and focuses on the conditions that make collective action possible: preparation, waiting, encampment, confrontation and dispersal.

The result is not only a record of protest, but a study of how resistance is organised from within.
