Louis Fratino Satura – Updated Edition

Louis Fratino. Satura – Updated Edition is the expanded publication accompanying the first institutional solo exhibition of American artist Louis Fratino at the Centro per l’arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci in Prato. Revised by the artist following the first edition, the volume includes additional material and reproductions of works created specifically for the exhibition, extending the documentation of Fratino’s practice across the last decade.

The publication examines the relationship between Fratino’s work and Italian visual culture. Paintings, drawings, and compositions included in the volume reference twentieth-century Italian artists such as Filippo de Pisis, Mario Mafai, Costantino Nivola, Felice Casorati, Carlo Carrà, Fausto Pirandello, and Guglielmo Janni. The book also traces connections between Fratino’s imagery and experiences of Italian cities and landscapes, including Rome, Milan, and Genoa.

Literary and cultural references are integrated throughout the publication, including texts by Sandro Penna, Patrizia Cavalli, Pier Paolo Pasolini, and Mario Mieli. Together, these materials position Fratino’s work within a broader network of painting, poetry, sexuality, and autobiographical construction.

Edited by Stefano Collicelli Cagol, the volume includes texts by Stefano Collicelli Cagol, Giorgio Di Domenico, Filippo Bosco, Chiara Portesine, and Michele Bertolino. The publication features a special cover-poster with the painting Garden at dusk by Louis Fratino, alongside an additional poster inserted within the volume.
